CSRD: Our ongoing alignment with EU sustainability standards

The CSRD is reshaping climate reporting in the EU. Tree-Nation is here to help sponsors integrate carbon offsets into this evolving framework.

The Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) is redefining how companies report their climate impact in the EU. At Tree-Nation, we are actively working to support our sponsors as they integrate carbon offsets into this new framework.

Where we stand

Tree-Nation provides nature-based carbon removal services through global reforestation projects. While CSRD introduces more detailed rules for carbon offset disclosures, we are proud to say that:

  1. Most of our projects already follow principles aligned with CSRD expectations, including additionality, permanence, and no double-counting.

  2. We have contractual controls and partner requirements in place to ensure responsible planting and data traceability.

  3. We are now in the process of formalizing a unified methodology, with documentation available for sponsors and auditors.

What we’re building

We are developing a proprietary Tree-Nation certification standard.

We are making it clearer for the user to see which projects follow external standards (e.g. Verra, Gold Standard) and which follow our internal model.

In response to CSRD’s increasing relevance, we are introducing a system to tag projects as “CSRD-aligned”, once their methodology and documentation are complete.

In the meantime, if you need any assistance, we'll be happy to advise you. We're also available to engage with your CSRD auditors with any request.

Tree-Nation is committed to ensuring that climate action remains transparent, accessible, and aligned with Europe’s sustainability transition.
