Stock replacement module for automated tree planting

To ensure a smooth planting experience, Tree-Nation offers a stock replacement system that keeps your automations running even when specific tree species go out of stock or change in price.

This article explains how the system works, your available settings, and how to stay in control.

How species prices work

All species in Tree-Nation are grouped into fixed price brackets, following a simplified Fibonacci logic:

€0.35, €0.50, €1, €2, €3, €5, €8, €10

This pricing structure ensures consistency and enables reliable fallback options in case a species becomes unavailable.

How the stock replacement module works

If a species selected in one of your automations is no longer available, the system will automatically select a replacement tree. Here's the logic it follows:

  1. Same project, same price → tries to find another species in the same project

  2. Other project, same price bracket → expands the search across other projects

  3. Replacement happens → the new species becomes the planted tree

  4. You are notified → a log event is recorded in your tree and a notification is created.

🔁 Trees planted via replacement are clearly marked, and the reason for replacement is logged for full transparency.

Early warning system for low stock

For Enterprise subscriptions only.
If a species used in your automation is running low, you’ll receive a low stock warning
This gives you time to:

  • Manually update your automation

  • Switch species proactively

  • Prevent unwanted replacements

You can manage notification preferences in your account settings.

How price changes are handled

When the price of a species increases, you have two options:

  • Default setting: stick to the original price bracket, and the system will automatically replace the species

  • Optional setting: stick with the original species, even if the price increases

This is a global user setting that applies to all your automations. You can adjust it in your profile under Automation Preferences.

Automation dashboard & editing tools

Your dashboard includes tools to help manage species availability and automations:

  • View affected automations: see where the original species is unavailable or replaced

  • 2 stock filters:

    • Short-term stock issue → species out of stock for less than 6 months

    • Long-term stock issue → species out of stock for more than 6 months
