Tree-Nation is an authorized distributor of external carbon credits (VCS, Plan Vivo) and issues its own carbon credits from Foundation and Mission projects. Carbon credits are units equivalent to the removal or avoidance of one tonne of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from our atmosphere. If you have calculated your CO2 footprint and would like to offset it, we offer the option to do so on either a one-time or recurring basis.
You can choose to offset with the following certification programs:
- Tree-Nation Foundation and Mission - carbon credits from our own certified projects
- Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) - with linked Climate, Community & Biodiversity (CCB) and REDD+ standards
- Plan Vivo Standard
Note: The CCB and REDD+ standards are always linked to VCS. Projects cannot be purchased solely under CCB or REDD+, as they serve as complementary certifications to VCS.
Our value-add: twinning
To enhance the impact of your carbon offset, Tree-Nation has implemented a unique approach called Twinning. Twinning applies specifically to VCS-certified projects and ensures that, in addition to the CO₂ offset provided through these projects, we also plant new trees as part of a reforestation initiative. This means that when you offset with a VCS project, you contribute to both the conservation of mature forests and the planting of new trees, which will sequester at least an additional tonne of CO₂ over their lifetime. Carbon Credit Options and Pricing
Tree-Nation calculates CO2 impact per tree species rather than per hectare, so the price per CO2 tonne varies across projects depending on the species mix. Our most competitive Foundation project is Amazon Windshields in Bolivia, which combines high per-tree sequestration with an agroforestry design.

- For Tree-Nation Foundation or Mission credits, you can order by planting trees from a Foundation or Mission project.
- For Plan Vivo standard, you can order from our Offset Emissions section.

Certificate Availability:
- For any purchases, a tree certificate is embedded within your tree purchase.
- Additionally, for VCS or Plan Vivo offsets, a personalized certificate can be requested before the end of year of your purchase. We usually deliver 1 certificate per standard that account for the sum of all your offset credits from this standard during this year. Such certificate have an additional cost of €40 in case you have offset less than 150 tonnes.
