Language Settings for Tree-Gift Emails

Your Tree-Gift emails can be sent in one of our six supported languages. If the recipient’s language is not available, the email will default to English.

However, the Tree-Gift collect page and tree certificate work differently:

  • These pages automatically adapt to the recipient’s browser language (e.g., if their browser is set to French, they will see the certificate in French).
  • If the recipient is already a Tree-Nation member, their account language settings will take priority.

By personalizing your Tree-Gifts, you can make your contribution to reforestation even more special!

At Tree-Nation, our smart email system ensures a smooth and efficient delivery of Tree-Gift emails to recipients, whether they are new to Tree-Nation or existing members.

How Our Email System Works

📩 For existing Tree-Nation members:

  • The email will include your personalized Tree-Gift message.

📩 For recipients new to Tree-Nation:

  • The email is simpler and streamlined, without a personalized message, to ensure a clear introduction to the platform.
  • If full personalization is required, you have the option to send your own emails instead of using Tree-Nation’s automated system.

Why We Don’t Offer Fully Personalized Emails

There are several reasons why we do not allow full customization of our Tree-Gift emails:

  • Legal & ethical concerns – We cannot send emails pretending to be from your company.
  • Better email deliverability – Adding external branding or links increases the risk of emails landing in spam folders. Our simple, well-optimized format ensures high deliverability.
  • Proven effectiveness – After years of refining our emails, we’ve seen better engagement rates when emails come from Tree-Nation. Recipients are more likely to open, click, and collect their trees.
  • Automatic language adaptation – Our system automatically adjusts the Tree-Gift email language based on the recipient’s location, avoiding complex manual setups.
  • Your message is already included – Personal messages are visible inside the Tree-Gift page, where recipients are more likely to see them, rather than in the email body.
  • Higher participation rates – Data shows that Tree-Nation’s default email format results in more trees viewed and collected compared to when sponsors send the emails themselves.

Our Recommendation: Best Practice for Sponsors

For e-commerce campaigns (e.g., "1 Product = 1 Tree"), we suggest adding a brief note in the order confirmation email to inform customers about their upcoming Tree-Gift email.

Example: "Thanks to your purchase, we’ve planted a tree for you! You’ll soon receive an email from Tree-Nation with details about your Tree-Gift. Thank you for making a positive impact on the environment!"

How Your Customers Receive Their Tree-Gift

  1. The recipient receives a Tree-Gift email.
  2. Inside the email, they click the "Plant Your Tree" button.
  3. They are directed to their Tree-Gift page to collect their tree.

Email reminders

How can I turn off the email reminders that my clients receive when they haven’t collected the tree gift yet?

Please go to Your Account Settings > Company settings and turn off the option 'Send 2 email reminders for Tree-Gifts' (48 hours and 10 days later).
