Mission & impact
Tree-Nation was founded in 2006 with a dual purpose: to reforest the planet and combat climate change by sequestering carbon. We have an ambitious mission to plant one trillion trees by 2050, and are working with urgency to reach it. Boasting over 18 years of dedicated experience, we have already nurtured the growth of more than 39 million trees, and we're just getting started.
Sponsor base
Tree-Nation directs the funds of 20,000+ corporate sponsors to planting projects across the five continents. Sponsors enjoy a comprehensive suite of services, including personalized forests, certified trees, impact tracking, frequent project updates, and communication tools to amplify their planting activities.
Our projects
Tree-Nation holds over 53 reforestation projects across 20+ countries. These vary in terrain size, species offering, and planting techniques, but they share a commitment to the deliverance of environmental and social benefits. Through partnerships with organizations like Eden Reforestation Projects, Trees for the Future, the International Tree Foundation, and the Arbor Day Foundation, we carefully source and select projects that align with our mission before forging collaborative alliances.
Project validation & verification
We maintain the quality and integrity of our projects through a proprietary system. Project holders provide us with a set of standard data, which we meticulously evaluate to assess their potential impact. Our regional managers conduct onsite audits to verify these data sets, generating a Tree-Nation Verification Quality Score (VQS). Projects must adhere to our environmental and social criteria and provide updated digital and physical data over time to sustain their VQS.
Partnerships
Tree-Nation is a proud partner of 1% for the Planet, advocating for corporations to allocate at least one percent of their revenues to environmental endeavors. We are active participants of United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) initiatives, and our operations are guided by thirteen of their seventeen Sustainable Development Goals.
Transparency
Tree-Nation provides extensive information about each planted tree via a unique URL which tracks its status, species, associated project, and downloadable certificate. Our projects are described in detail within their dedicated websites, which showcase their planting sites and respective geolocations, the complete list of species planted therein, and offer a space for sponsors to leave reviews of their individual experiences.
Operating Structure
Tree-Nation has experience operating both as a private company and as a non-profit entity, and we have found that we can optimize our efficiency by operating dually. Therefore, the Tree-Nation platform is managed by our private company, while our non-profit entity is undergoing a transformation to focus on micro-conservation projects.
Risk management
Tree-Nation has planted 5% more trees than those sponsored by our users to account for any unforeseen tree loss due to extreme weather events or human activity. All trees planted through our platform generate a certificate which validates this activity, additionally specifying tree species and location of planting. These certificates exhibit Tree-Nation’s registration number, and bear the signature of the relevant project holder.
Tree-Nation is proud to be sponsored by a diverse group of corporations, including:
