Tree-Nation credentials
Our credentials include a proprietary project selection system, a user base of 700,000+ members, and various environmental partnerships

Mission & impact
Tree-Nation was founded in 2006 with a dual purpose: to reforest the planet and combat climate change by sequestering carbon. We have an ambitious mission to plant one trillion trees by 2050, and are working with urgency to reach it. Boasting over 19 years of dedicated experience, we have already nurtured the growth of more than 44 million trees, and we're just getting started.
Sponsor base
Tree-Nation directs the funds of 20,000+ corporate sponsors to planting projects across the five continents. Sponsors enjoy a comprehensive suite of services, including personalized forests, certified trees, impact tracking, frequent project updates, and communication tools to amplify their planting activities.
Our projects
Tree-Nation holds over 40 reforestation projects across more than 20 countries. These projects vary in ecosystem, species selection, and planting techniques, but all follow Tree-Nation’s project selection and environmental certification standards to ensure measurable environmental and social benefits.
Carbon certification
Tree-Nation applies its Environmental Carbon Certification Methodology to evaluate and monitor the impact of each reforestation project. This methodology provides a structured framework for assessing biodiversity restoration, carbon storage potential, and long-term project sustainability. By standardizing how environmental outcomes are measured and reported, Tree-Nation ensures that projects on the platform meet consistent quality and transparency standards.
Project validation & verification
We maintain the quality and integrity of our projects through a proprietary system. Project holders provide a set of standardized project data that Tree-Nation evaluates to assess environmental impact and long-term viability. Our regional managers conduct onsite audits to verify these data sets, generating a Tree-Nation Verification Quality Score (VQS). Projects must adhere to our environmental and social criteria and provide updated digital and physical data over time to sustain their VQS.
Independent 3rd-party verification
In addition to project reporting and on-site audits, Tree-Nation uses independent third-party satellite datasets to verify the environmental performance of certified projects. These external measurements allow Tree-Nation to monitor vegetation development and assess project outcomes over time, providing an additional layer of verification alongside field monitoring and project documentation.
Partnerships
Tree-Nation is an active participant in the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) initiatives, and our operations are guided by fourteen of its seventeen Sustainable Development Goals. Since 2024, Tree-Nation has also been an official partner of the UNCCD to combat desertification.

Transparency
Tree-Nation provides extensive information about each planted tree via a unique URL that tracks its status, species, associated project, and downloadable certificate. Our projects are described in detail within their dedicated spaces, which showcase their planting sites and respective geolocations, the complete list of species planted therein, and offer a space for sponsors to leave reviews of their individual experiences.
Corporate governance
Tree-Nation operates according to a formal Code of Conduct that sets the ethical, legal, and professional standards governing our business. It covers integrity and anti-corruption, responsible environmental communication, human rights, data protection, fair competition, and whistleblowing protections — among other areas. This document applies to all employees, directors, contractors, and representatives. Download our Code of Conduct (PDF)
Operating structure
Tree-Nation operates as a private company, leveraging this structure to effectively achieve our mission and professionally meet the needs of our sponsors. While we have previously operated as a non-profit for several years, we believe the private company model provides the best framework to fulfill our mission and maintain operational excellence.
Risk management
Tree-Nation has planted 5% more trees than those sponsored by our users to account for any unforeseen tree loss due to extreme weather events or human activity. All trees planted through our platform generate a certificate that validates this activity, additionally specifying tree species and location of planting. These certificates exhibit Tree-Nation’s registration number, and bear the signature of the relevant project holder.
Tree-Nation is proud to be sponsored by a diverse group of corporations, including:
