Automating tree planting with Zapier
Zapier is a web-based automation tool that lets you connect Tree-Nation with over 7,000 other web applications, including tools like Gmail, Slack, Trello, Salesforce, and more. By integrating with Zapier, you can plant and offer trees automatically based on any trigger, like when you sell a product, receive feedback, or hire a new employee.
How it works
With the Tree-Nation Zapier app, you can automate tree planting in three ways:

Option 1 – Plant a tree (without offering a tree gift)
Use this option when you simply want to trigger a tree planting without sending a gift to a recipient.
Step 1: Create the trigger

Select the app that will trigger the tree planting.

Define the trigger (e.g. new form submission).

Log in to the app to sync it with Zapier.

Choose the specific data source (e.g. “Feedback form 2025”).
Step 2: Set the action

Select the Tree-Nation app.

Choose the action event: Plant a Tree.

In the account field, enter your API token (see how to request it below).
-
Run a test to make sure the trigger and action work correctly.
✅ Done! You’ve added tree planting to your workflow.
Option 2 – Plant and offer a tree using Tree-Nation’s email system and template
Use this option to automatically plant and send a tree gift via Tree-Nation's email system.
Step 1: Create the trigger

Select the app that will trigger the action.

Define the trigger (e.g. new customer, form submission).

Log in to sync the app.

Select the correct source (e.g. “New feedback”).
Step 2: Set the action

Select the Tree-Nation app.

Choose the action event: Offer a Tree.

Enter your API token. Request the token via the form at the end of this page

In the configuration, map the name and email of the recipient.

Run a test to verify both trigger and action.
✅ Done! A tree will be planted and automatically offered to your recipients.
Option 3 – Plant and offer a tree using your own email system
Use this option if you want to send the tree gift from your own email platform (e.g. Gmail, Outlook, Mailchimp).
Step 1: Create the trigger

Select the triggering app.

Define the trigger condition.

Log in and sync the app.

Choose the correct data source.
Step 2: Set the tree planting action

Select the Tree-Nation app.

Choose the action event: Plant a Tree.

Enter your API token. Request the token via the form at the end of this page

Run a test to confirm the tree data collection.
Step 3: Set the email action

Choose your preferred email system.

Select the action event: Send Email.

Log in to sync your email account.

Configure the recipient’s email address.

Set the sender, subject line, and body of the email.
Example subject: Your Tree-Gift – Thanks for your feedback!
Example email template:
Hi [1. name],

Requesting your Zapier API token
Once you’ve chosen your integration option, you’ll need a unique API token to connect Tree-Nation with Zapier.
To request your API token, please fill out this form or email us at support@tree-nation.com. We’ll send you your API token by email shortly after.
