What is an Application
In our platform, an Application is a service that plant trees based on a defined trigger. By adding Applications to your account, it allows you to automate your tree-planting based on the criteria of your choice.
Applications require no code and can be added by anyone without a technical background.
Some Applications are very simple to install because they are internal to our platform. Some require a connection setup as they help you connect Tree-Nation to other SAAS or apps you are already using.
Examples of Applications
To make it cleared let's see some examples of Applications and what they can do:

- Plant 1 trees on day January 20 for #MartinLutherKingAnniversary.
- Plant 100 trees on day October 15 for #CompanyAnniversary.

Browse all Applications
Click on your user menu icon. In it you will find a link to Applications
This will lead to the Applications section that showcase all the application you can add to your Account.
If you look at the filter you'll see there are 2 kinds of Apps:
- Basic Apps: immediate to implement those apps require a very simple setting.
- Plugin Apps: those apps connects you with a 3rd party software and requires you connect Tree-Nation with this software as part of the setup. It usually take a couple of minutes only but do not require technical skills.
To set up easily your very first app, make sure to set your filter to Basic Apps.
Now you can see the most commonly used apps. You can see how many users are using them and some additional tags to classify them.

Open an app to learn more information about it, see its ratings, testimonials, case studies and planting success. Also you can see which parameters are available and how to set it up.
Once you find an app that you want to use, click on the Add App button.
Add and parameter an Application
It's time to add your first app! A classic one is the Anniversary App, so let's Add this app!
First, find the App in the Applications section and select it.
On its App page, click on the Add App button.
This will lead you to the Parameter page of this application.
[Screenshot]
The parameters here are very simple: you need to define if this is a gift or not, a trigger date, a number of tree, and a message. Let's for example set it to plant a tree for your own birthday.
- So select "Plant"
- then select the date of your birthday
- then select "1" tree to plant
- then select if you want to plant a special species list.
By default it will pick a species from your species package selection. Unless you want a very special tree - it's your birthday after all! - just leave it as "default" - then leave the current message or feel inspired to add a more creative one
Click on Save parameters and you will see a confirmation that you have installed your first app. Congratulations!
Review which app you have activated
To find out which Application you have activated, go to My account, then Applications.
From here you can:
- see how effective are your apps in planting trees
- edit the applications parameters
- edit your app tree message or the species package associated to it
- activate or pause an application
INTERNAL
- Replace screenshot for Applications (do it in figma)
- Add Screenshot of 1 app detail
- Define what is the main action button "Add (an application), Join, Adopt, Set up, Install, Plug Subscribe, Activate..."
- "Now you can see the most commonly used apps. You can see how many users are using them and some additional tags to classify them." Add a screenshot of this.
- Display screenshot Basic Apps that also show the other option "Plugin Apps".
- We need to start differentiating a Planting Habits and an Application:
- Planting Habits use hashtags.
- Apps use "via APPNAME"
This mean each tree will have both a Hashtag and a ViaAPPNAME. And we can allow clients to make their hashtag unique (even in a NetZeroProduct). See asana Hard problems on this.

See if we want to improve the way we present it. Showing a figma screenshot with dropdown choices in boxes. more like this:
