The Impact section of your forest profile provides a clear and engaging summary of your reforestation efforts, environmental contributions, and social impacts. This section is a valuable tool for showcasing the tangible results of your commitment to sustainability. It contains information such as overall number of planted trees, the number of hectares reforested, and the total CO2 captured by the trees. Below, we explain how we calculate your impact: 

How We Calculate Reforested Hectares and CO₂ Offset

Each reforestation project has a specific tree density, measured as the number of trees planted per hectare (e.g., 1,000 trees/ha). This density determines the space occupied by each tree.

Calculation Process:

• With this information, we can calculate the area that each tree will occupy on the project, knowing that in 1 hectare we have an area of 10000m², then we calculate the individual tree area by dividing the area of 1 hectare by the tree density of the project. (e.g. 10000m2 / 1000 trees = 1 tree each 10m2).
• The reforested area is calculated by multiplying the number of trees that you have planted by the area each tree occupies. For example: If you have planted 2000 trees in a project in Tanzania, and this project plants 1000 trees per hectare, you will have 20000m² or 2ha planted within this project.
• And if you plant in different projects, the calculation will be done according to the project particularities, giving you the final number of hectares reforested.

Calculating CO₂ Offset

Tree-Nation has developed a CO₂ calculation methodology to estimate the amount of CO₂ each tree offsets in its first 20 years.

Calculation Process:

• Each tree species has a specific CO₂ offset value (tonnes of CO₂ per tree).
• Multiply the number of trees planted by their respective CO₂ offset value: Total Trees Planted x CO₂ Offset per Tree
• The result represents the expected tonnes of CO₂ offset by your trees, quantifying your environmental impact.

Track Your Sponsored Trees

1. First, your batch of sponsored trees will be queued within our pile of pending sponsored trees.

2. When your turn arrives, your trees will start being offered as sponsored trees to be planted for the successful seeds that reach 100 water drops within their time limit.

3. As the seeds progressively transform into trees, those trees will start appearing in your forest and your tree counter.

At any time you can check the progression of your trees to see how many have already been planted and how many are still pending being planted. You will find this in the section My Contributions.
