When are my trees planted?
In most of our reforestation projects, we plant the trees with respect to the local seasons. The best time to plant a tree is imposed by nature, and we certainly respect it to ensure its optimal growth
When are my trees planted?
In most of our reforestation projects, we plant trees during the local planting season, which is determined by the climate and natural cycles of the region. Typically, this aligns with the start of the rainy season, when young trees have the best chance to grow with sufficient natural water.
Trees are planned before they are sponsored
Unlike a simple transactional model, our approach to tree planting is rooted in advanced planning and forestry logistics.
Every year, we prepare and manage a planting plan and tree stock for each project, well before we know how many trees will be sponsored. This is a delicate balancing act that requires anticipating demand, ensuring availability, and minimizing waste or downtime. The goal is to always have healthy, viable trees ready to plant at the right time and in the right conditions.
This means that trees may be planted before or after your sponsorship, depending on:
- The planting season of the project
- The tree production cycle (nursery and transplant stages)
- The pace at which sponsorships occur across the year (what we call "sponsorship velocity")
What if my tree was already planted?
In a few projects, especially those with high planting volumes, some trees may already be planted before being sponsored. This is not a drawback. In fact, in carbon forestry and CO₂ certification, it is common practice to finance trees that are already established, as they are already capturing and storing CO₂. This also improves predictability around your sponsorship’s impact.
In our case, pre-planted trees are usually planted the same year with a few rare projects where they can be 2 to 3 years old, and still very much in their early growth phase. Their environmental impact is already underway, and their carbon sequestration has already begun.
Where can I check planting dates?
You can find detailed information about planting timelines in the Planting Site section on each project’s page. This includes:
- The expected planting season for the project
- The actual planting dates (updated once available)
- The year of the latest planting site we are working on
- Go to the Projects List and select the project you're interested in.
- Open the Planting Site tab of the project.
- Browse all the Planting Sites listed for the project and look for the planting dates to see when trees were (or will be) planted.
If you’re specifically looking for newly planted trees or a certain timeline, feel free to contact us. We’ll help you choose a project that aligns with your expectations.
